Programmes : Clean Drinking Water
Primaria – Lomas de Coapinole / Primaria – Playa Grande
'884 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly one in eight of the world's population. (WHO/UNICEF)- 1.4 million children die every year as a result of diseases caused by unclean water and poor sanitation. This amounts to around 4,000 deaths a day or one every 20 seconds.' (WHO).
New Life Mexico (NLM) is currently working in 11 Primary Schools and 2 Secondary Schools in the deprived areas of Puerto Vallarta, with approximately 9,000 children. In 2010 NLM launched a “clean drinking water” campaign with the Delegado of Pitillal and has built Water Houses in these schools. Each school receives a minimum of 1,168,000 cups of clean drinking water per year. NLM is responsible for the monthly maintenance of these Water Houses to ensure the filters and UV lamps are changed when necessary.
To date NLM now has 14 Sponsored Water Houses in local schools :

The number of children in the school dictates the size of the filter system i.e. some schools have 1,500 children, others have 500 and therefore some Water Houses produce a greater volume of clean water. These Water Houses provide more than 19 million glasses of clean drinking water per year.
